Hair She Grows Kids® is a nonprofit organization founded to empower foster and adoptive parents of African American children through culturally grounded hair care education, professional connections, and community support.

We believe that hair is more than appearance—it’s identity, culture, and pride. For many families, understanding how to care for textured hair can be a challenge. That’s why we created a nurturing space where parents can learn, grow, and honor the unique beauty of their children.

We serve as a bridge between families and culturally competent resources, providing hands-on training, trusted stylist referrals, and community-based learning to support both hair health and heritage.

Founded with passion and purpose, Hair She Grows Kids® began as a vision to close the cultural gap in foster and adoptive care. What started as a series of local workshops has grown into a movement—one that uplifts children and empowers caregivers through education, connection, and love.

Driven by a desire to create change, Donna Chase Benton combined her background in hair care and natural hair & beauty events with her heart for children to establish a nonprofit that redefines care—starting at the root.
